What speakers need to know and bring to convention

Dear Speakers,

Each room will have the following:

Screen

LCD Projector

Podium with microphone for sessions in rooms with capacity 50+.

If you are at Western High School, the max classroom size is 40, there will not be a microphone.

Things a speaker is required to bring

1. Your computer.

2. Do not assume you will be able to access the cloud with a CBE/CSSD computer when on location. Be prepared and have your presentation on your laptop or external drive.

3. Adapters for projectors. ALL sites have updated their equipment and use HDMI cables. The projectors, Screens and TVs will NOT pair with your computer or Iphone using Bluetooth. YOU MUST use an adapter if your computer does not have an HDMI port.

4. Print material. CCTCA does NOT provide print facilities. Alternatively upload your speaker handout materials to your speaker profile.

How to upload a document to your profile

Log in using your email in your speaker application.
Request a magic link.

Use the magic link to access your registration information.

At the top right hand corner is your icon for your profile.

Click on the ICON.

Go to my profile, my documents.

Upload your files and save.

• Prepare your presentation and ensure it works. If the presentation is stored on a school board network or storage, ie CBE, CSSD, you may not be able to access your information. Do not make an assumption that it will work, create a back up copy on your computer or have a copy of your presentation on an external drive or USB device and bring it with you.

• There is a break between sessions. This is the presenters opportunity to set up and test devices. If you are located at a school environment there are limited resources to support your AV requirements. Plan ahead, make sure you have what YOU need for a successful presentation. Ensure you have your AV issues resolved BEFORE you arrive on location. Contact the convention executive assistant if you have questions prior to the event.

TransAlta Youth Performing Arts Centre\Dougherty Hall, Stampede Grounds OPENS AT 7:30 am.

LUNCH

During convention lunch will be provided to speakers at Hyatt Thomsons Restaurant - Social Club Thursday February 15 and Friday February 16 11 am - 2:00 pm.

Speaker badges are required. IF you are at Telus Spark and Western Canada High School lunch is supplied onsite.

If you require sub costs covered by CCTCA, your board is required to send an invoice. Email invoice to: cctcatreasurer@gmail.com

The invoice should include the following information:

Name of teacher (presenter)

School, Province

Date of presentation

Parking

Speakers are required to pay for their parking downtown.

If you are speaking at Western Canada High School, there is gated parking on the West side, NE corner and NW corner. Try one of these parking spots, your name will be on a speaker list, the volunteer will give you access to gated parking.

Alternatively, there are 150 student parking spaces on the south side of the building.
